Understanding the school food standards
Our team of Registered and Associate Nutritionists have extensive experience of the new school food standards. We can provide half-day, full-day or short training courses on the school food standards (including the EU and UK allergen labelling requirements) to support schools, local authorities and caterers understand and implement these requirements.
School cooks train the trainer
This three-day course is for experienced school cooks. It’s designed to give you the skills and confidence you need to be able to share your expertise and knowledge with new staff.
Through discussion, role playing, practical demonstrations and planning time, you’ll learn practical skills and techniques you can use in your kitchen. At the end of the course you will leave with a workbook full of resources, a personal training action plan and a training plan for your kitchen team.
Our trainers all have extensive experience of working in school dining and kitchen environments and create a friendly and fun atmosphere to support you.
Let’s Get Cooking demonstrator training course
If you want to set up a cooking club for children, young people or families, this two-day course is for you. Accredited by the Royal Society for Public Health, we’ll give you the practical skills and knowledge you’ll need to teach cookery to children and young people, inspiring them to cook, choose and eat healthy, tasty food.
With an emphasis on practical, hands-on learning, the course includes demonstration practice and tips on setting up cooking sessions at any location.

- Level 2 Food Safety in Catering
Specifically created for any person, in any type of food business, who handles food, this course offers knowledge and understanding of the importance of food hygiene, associated food hazards, good hygiene practice and controls based upon an awareness of food safety management systems.
- Level 2 Healthier Foods and Special Diets
This course is for caterers and carers, community workers, fitness trainers and those with a role in the promotion of health. This very interactive course teaches a good understanding of the basic principles of nutrition which underpin the production of healthy food and preparation of special diets, and the key role of nutrition in health
- Level 2 Understanding Behaviour Change
A course for those needing to support people through behaviour change – which could improve their health and well being. We can help you understand the importance of listening, hearing and observing when helping others to develop strategies to undergo behaviour change.
Cooking in the curriculum
Our bespoke, one-day, Let’s Get Cooking training course meets the objectives for the cooking element of the design and technology national curriculum for key stages 1 and 2, and supports key stage 3.
- develop food preparation and handling skills
- learn food safety and hygiene and how to apply these to a classroom setting
- develop the skills and confidence to run practical food-based activities within a classroom setting with limited resources
