It’s international year of the pulse!

You shouldn’t let a bit of wind put you off eating pulses. As 2016 is the international year of the pulse what better time to start giving the humble pulse the praise it deserves?

Full of fibre, packed with protein and  one of your five-a-day, pulses are the perfect little package of goodness and there are so many to choose from.  Whether you’re using lentils, chickpeas, garden peas or the good old baked bean, there are quite literally hundreds of recipes to sink your teeth into.

Here are a few of our favourites – try them for lunch this week:

Quick Boston-style Baked Beans – when you’ve tried these up-styled baked beans you’ll never go back to the plain old canned variety. Tuck in with crusty bread or chick them on a crispy jacket potato for a hearty winter lunch.

Caribbean Rice and Peas – goes wonderfully with spicy meat dishes like our is Jerk Chicken.

Tangy Tomato Dhal – made from lentils this is great as a side dish or as a dip with flat bread.
