  1. By registering/entering for the competition, an entrant will be deemed to have accepted the terms and conditions and to have agreed to be bound by them.
  2. UK-based schools and other educational settings, organisations, groups, clubs, individuals and families are eligible to enter.
  3. Any photographs submitted as part of an entry may be used by the Children’s Food Trust and its partners in any media, for any purpose, in any of their publications or on their websites at any time in the future. The entrant (school, organisation, group, club or individual) is responsible for securing permission from any person appearing in images submitted (including permission of parents/guardians of any children pictured).
  4. Registered/entrant schools, organisations, groups, clubs, individuals and families agree to their name and town being published in connection with the competition, and agree that Children’s Food Trust and its partners may disclose this information in their publicity online and in print, via any media.
  5. By joining the Big Cookathon participants agree to take part in publicity.
  6. The official Big Cookathon weekend is Friday 22 to Monday 25 April 2016. Events held at other times will still be eligible to win a prize, but to be considered for a prize your online entry with details of what you did at your event and photos must be completed by the closing date: Monday 9 May 2016.
  7. To be eligible to win a prize you must cook the Big Cookathon Cottage Pie.
  8. To win a prize based on the number of people cooking you must:
    Record the name of everyone who takes part – only those who take some role in the cooking can be counted toward your Cookathon numbers.
    Only count each participant once, even if they attend more than one session – although you can
    Hold your Cookathon over more than one day or location.
    Submit a written record of those who took part if you are shortlisted (template for this will be provided).
  9. All those who send a photo and information about their event will automatically be entered for as many prize categories as they are eligible for.
  10. Only one entry per school/organisation/group/ club/individual may be submitted. No entrant will be able to win more than one prize.
  11. Responsibility cannot be accepted by the Big Cookathon organisers for registration or entry forms that are submitted incomplete or are lost.
  12. The closing date for the receipt of entry forms is Monday 9 May, 2016.
  13. Entries will be judged on the information provided in the entry process and in line with the judging criteria advertised on the website.
  14. All judging will be based on written online submissions, picture uploads and supporting evidence of numbers (where applicable).
  15. The competition judging panel will be made up of representatives from Children’s Food Trust and The Tesco Eat Happy Project.
  16. Decisions about awarding competition prizes, made by the judging panel, will be final and no correspondence can be entered into.
  17. Prize money awarded to schools/organisations/groups/clubs is to be used to support activities that help entrants to continue to enjoy cooking healthy meals from scratch together, such as being spent on kitchen equipment or ingredients. Winners will be asked to sign a declaration to this effect.
  18. The winning individuals and groups will be announced on www.childresnfoodtrust.org.uk by Monday 6 June 2016.
  19. Any prize not claimed within 28 days of notification will be forfeited.
  20. These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
  21. This competition is run as a partnership between the Children’s Food Trust and The Tesco Eat Happy Project.
  22. Data and information submitted as part of the entry process will be held in line with data protection legislation.

Prizes and judging criteria

Family and friends cooking together – 30 x £100 Tesco voucher

To win a prize you should:

  • get people cooking and eating the Big Cookathon Cottage Pie together
  • upload a photo of your Cookathon and tell us a little bit about what you did.

It doesn’t matter whether you organise a big event or just cook with your immediate family or a few friends. The judges will be looking for entries that show people:

  • sharing and learning cooking skills
  • having fun together
  • enjoying a balanced, healthy meal.

 

Group of people cooking together – such as a school, club or workplace – 10 x £200 Tesco voucher

To win a prize you should:

  • get people cooking and eating the Big Cookathon Cottage Pie together
  • upload a photo of your Cookathon and tell us a little bit about what you did. (It doesn’t matter whether you organise a big event or just cook with your immediate family or a few friends.)

The judges will be looking for entries that show people sharing and learning cooking skills and having fun together enjoying a balanced, healthy meal.


 

The biggest group of people cooking together – such as a school, club or workplace – 5 x £200 Tesco voucher

To win a prize you should:

  • get people cooking and eating the Big Cookathon Cottage Pie together
  • keep a record of everyone who takes part
  • upload a photo of your Cookathon and tell us a little bit about what you did – including how many people took part in the cooking.

Entrants shortlisted for prizes will need to submit a register of everyone who took part in cooking the official recipe within 7 days of if being requested.
In the event of a draw, the judges will choose the entries that best highlight people learning new cooking skills and enjoying healthy food together.
