Heathrow Communities (Groundworks)

Groundwork-LogoWe’re working together with the charity Groundwork South to run the “A Growing Appetite” project which aims to get more children growing and cooking their own food.

‘A Growing Appetite’ is funded by the Heathrow Communities Trust and The Prince Philip Trust Fund. Ten schools in the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead will get funding, training and support to help get their pupils learning more about where their food comes from, how to cook what they have grown and to make healthy food choices.

Groundwork South is visiting each school to help them plan allotment areas in school grounds. While our Let’s Get Cooking team will be training school staff to run healthy cooking sessions for children and advising on how to get the whole community involved with cooking together using the crops pupils have grown.

Groundwork South is an independent local charity, committed to social, economic and environmental regeneration. Groundwork South works with partners to improve the quality of the local environment, the lives of local people and the profitability of local businesses.
